Manage your alert contacts
Alert Contacts allow you to easily manage who and how a contact is notified when an alert notification is activated. From each Alert Rule, you add Alert Contacts and the contacts are notified when an alert notification is activated.
If you want your friends and family to receive alert notifications, simply add them as an alert contact and assign their contact to an Alert Rule. They do not need a My AcuRite account to receive email
Alert Contact guidelines
Be sure to set the Default Contact - when you create a new Custom Alert, the Default Contact is automatically added to an Alert Rule. For example, if you want to receive all of your alert notifications to a specific email address, set the contact as your Default Contact. By default, all System Alert notifications are sent to your Default Contact.
Do you want to receive both email and text notifications? - create two contacts, one with your email address and one with your mobile phone number for text messages.

How to create an alert contact
- From the top menu, select Settings > Alert Contacts.
- Select + Add.

Select the Type - an alert notification can be sent in the form of an email message (Email) or text message to a mobile phone number (Phone).
- Enter a Value - for an email enter the email address the alert is to be sent to and for a text message enter the mobile phone number.
- Enter a Description - for information purposes only.
- Select Save.
The contact can be added to an Alert Rule.
